Los Angeles has a thriving music scene and festivals to prove it. From the desert to local L.A. venues, everything is no more than a short shuttle ride away. Desert Generator is a music festival inspired by 90s desert parties. Join the crowds for a magical night out in the desert at Pappy & Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace for some of the best rock music around. Try “Brokechella”, or the Broke LA Music & Arts Festival features 50 emerging local bands. The admission is only $25, and features not only great music but also a comedy line-up. Arroyo Seco Weekend in Pasadena is gearing up to become the next big festival in L.A. The two-day event on June 24-25 will feature Mumford & Sons, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Weezer, and more.

Los Angeles has a great outdoor movie scene. What better place to catch a classic than Hollywood? Time Out LA has a monthly schedule for outdoor films. So pack a picnic basket, grab a blanket and some wine and plan for these affordable and fun nights out.

Other events this summer include Lummis Day Festival, a three-day celebration of the arts history and ethnic diversity of Northeast LA. In June, the LA Food Fest is another festival celebrating the diversity of Los Angeles’s food scene at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. June also includes LA Pride, one of the biggest pride events in the country. Nearly half a million spectators turn out to this two-day festival and parade.
