Pumpkin Patches in Los Angeles

September will be here before you know it. Before you get in back-to-school mode, check out some of these fun outdoor activities, all fun things to do with family, friends, or work colleagues.

Pumpkins, apples, and corn – oh my!

Just because Los Angeles doesn’t have New England autumn weather doesn’t mean you need to skip out on seasonal fall activities! Head to a local pumpkin patch to find the perfect Jack O Lantern or orange squash for your pumpkin dessert or pie. Time Out Los Angeles has a list of the best ones, many of which also offer hay wagon rides, bounce houses, and petting zoos for kids of all ages. Southern California is also home to plenty of apple orchards. Grab a group and take a shuttle out to a farm for the day to pick the fruits fresh from the trees. Getting lost in a corn maze is also fun way to spend a fall day. Weaving through a maize labyrinth with friends or work colleagues is a great bonding excursion!

Get arty.

It’s no surprise that Los Angeles has a vibrant art scene, and there are plenty of autumn events to keep you busy. A great way to spend the fall is by checking out some of the many new exhibitions opening in September and October. The GRAMMY Museum, MOCA Pacific Design Center, and The Huntington all have regularly rotating exhibits. LACMA and The Getty Center are larger institutions if you’d like to spend the whole day. Taking a stroll through Los Angeles’ neighborhoods is also a wonderful way to take in local street art. The fall also marks the final days of Rooftop Film Club, a free outdoor movie series on the rooftop of the Montalbán in Hollywood.

Check out the newest restaurants.

Los Angeles is also known the world over for its multi-cultural and acclaimed cuisine. There are so many new places to try out every week that it can make your head spin. If you’re in the mood for Japanese, Rakkan Ramen is opening a new space in LA’s Little Tokyo in August. Downtown LA is also opening a new food court, Corporation Food Hall, which has a huge variety of vendors with cuisine from all over the world. A couple of recent restaurants that have opened to much acclaim include Vespertine in Culver City, The Highlight Room in Hollywood and Vestry in Mid-Wilshire. Take the time this fall to check them out.
