Must See Tourist Sites in Los Angeles

First time in LA? Xpress has put together a short guide to Los Angeles’s must-see tourist sites.

Stop #1: Venice Beach

You’ve heard about it or seen it in movies. What better way to take in LA’s signature gorgeous weather than a trip to the beach? Even if sand and water isn’t your thing, there is plenty to see and do. People-watching along the boardwalk is never boring with an endless bizarre parade of skateboarders, vendors and street performers. Rent a bike and make your way down the boulevard. Be sure to stop at some of the many local eccentric shops, restaurants and cafes.

If sand and water IS your thing, then Muscle Beach is a must-see. This local beach was the birthplace of America’s 20th century fitness boom, and is still home to many a fitness buff. Every July 4th, the annual Mr. and Mrs. Muscle Beach competition takes place, where hordes of spectators watch men and women flex for the title. But don’t be intimidated: you don’t need a set of weights to enjoy the local surf.

Stop #2: Rodeo Drive

Ever seen Pretty Woman? Los Angeles is home to one of the most famous and elite shopping streets in the country. You don’t need to afford Chanel, or even enjoy shopping, to enjoy the sights of 90210. Walk along the $200 million cobbled streets. Visit the Anderson Court, architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s only shopping mall. Keep your eyes open for celebrities – you never know who could be shopping alongside you!

Stop #3: The Getty Center

Is art more your thing? Began by Richard Meier in 1984, this $1 billion museum took 13 years to complete. The panoramic views are worth the inaccessibility and tram ride. The massive museum boasts a world-class contemporary art collection, as well as older works, including masterpieces from Titian, Van Gogh, Monet and Cezanne. The art center also has a beautiful cafe and restaurant, one of the world’s largest art and architecture libraries and the Robert Irwin-designed Central Garden.

Book your shuttle from LAX, Long Beach, Orange County, or other airport soon so that you can have a comfortable and safe ride into Los Angeles, whether you’re with friends or here for business. Xpress Shuttles wishes you a happy visit in the City of Angels!
