Thanksgiving Travel Tips
Xpress Shuttle would like to wish all of our friends, family, and customers a safe and very Happy Thanksgiving. However, you plan to travel this year, Thanksgiving is always one of the busiest travel times of year. Whether you’re a student flying home for Thanksgiving or just traveling to your relatives for dinner, holiday transportation can sometimes be a little intense. Here are a few Thanksgiving travel tips to ensure a happy and stress free holiday:

Travel Early

This is true for booking transportation to actually traveling on Thanksgiving. It’s never too early too start planning holiday traveling (but if you’re this, it may be too late!). The best Thanksgiving travel rates are available in the early fall, so start looking as soon as you can. It’s also the best idea to avoid traveling on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving day. If possible try to book flights on Monday or Tuesday. Thanksgiving morning is even a better option to travel than Wednesday. Luckily, Xpress Shuttles is open on Thanksgiving Day for all of your travel needs.

Beware of Prohibited Items

If you’re flying this Thanksgiving, make sure you’re not bringing any prohibited items. Wrapped gifts are now allowed through TSA, however, they are highly discouraged. Wrapped gifts may need to be opened during security check ins. You can bring your pilgrim buckles, though be prepared to remove all belts and pilgrim hats for x-ray. Gravy is prohibited to 3.4 ounces, although, feel free to bring your turkey!

Download New Movies, Apps, & Podcasts

This is great advice for anyone traveling alone or with family. Load your phone or tablet with your favorite movies, games, or podcast to help pass the time while traveling this holiday season. These will come in very handy during long waits or drives, especially for anyone traveling with children.

Road Travel on Thanksgiving

We would encourage Thanksgiving holiday travelers to plan ahead and travel at your earliest convenience. Highways are often busiest the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving, and the Sunday after. Pick the best day for you and plan a route ahead of time to avoid highway turkey jams. Or, of course, you can just leave the driving to Xpress Shuttles.

Have Fun

Lastly, this is the time to enjoy with your family. Relax, have fun, and share what you’re thankful for!
